  • I'm just dealing with the fact that even though I feel better, I'm not getting any better (does that EVEN make sense).  Had a major wheezing attack today that my inhaler didn't take care of  ... went to the doctor ... got more antibiotics and some other type of inhaler - plus a shot of something.  And I wonder ... how much more healthwise am I going to have to deal with?  To add to this mess my ex-boss, who I came into contact with this last week I went back to work came down with bacterial meningitis so we are being advised to go see our doctor if we feel any of the symptoms.  Talk about me being lucky!  If I was superstitious I'd think that the world wants me to die already ... LOL ... but I won't give it that chance!

So after getting my prescriptions I went to Disneyland and had lunch, rode a few rides, had a few smiles ... and made it all better!

  • This article taught me something I never learned in history class!  Go HERE for the full article and picture ... it's all in fun:

Butt plugs, which can be worn by men or women, gay or straight, were
invented in Greece about 350 BCE. Since then butt plugs have been worn
by historical figures (Alexander the Great, Hannibal, and Julius
Caesar), musicians (Tchaikovsky, Boy George, and Mick Jagger), and
opinion shapers (Gertrude Stein, Barney Frank, and Matt Drudge).

George Washington is rumored to have been wearing a wooden butt plug
when he crossed the Delaware to attack the Hessians at Trenton. That,
according to some Washington scholars, explains why he was standing up
in the boat during the crossing.

    WOW ... George Washington!

  • Well, a few days of bed rest and drowning myself in prescription cough syrup, antiobiotic and albuterol does the trick rather well.  Plus the humidifier running 24/7 in my room helped quite a bit as well.  I can actually talk a bit better now because my congestion is almost gone, I can also breathe easier, and the only lingering thing is my cough (but it isn't as bad as in the beginning).  I've never had bronchitis, so I figured it was just a really bad cold - you should have seen the stash of cold and cough medicines I bought (I could start my own drug store).

To add to this a few weeks before I had a stye in my left eye, first time for that too.  So, I'm figuring I must be stressing out about something, but I don't really know why.  Seriously thinking about taking a mini vacation by myself to the beach for the weekend or something, it will do me some good I feel.

  • Happy New Year to me ... I have bronchitis ...

I'll be in bed for a while.  I hope you are all doing ok.

  • Wow!  I haven't been here in a while I see.  Well, what have I been up to ... mostly playing VMK ... watching lots of movies (DO NOT WATCH "BLACK CHRISTMAS" ... if you want to enjoy yourself).  Oh, and we can't forget going to Disneyland ... and I'm still not tired of it, especially since I'm planning on going this coming Friday.

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season, and that you enjoy the New Year (I'll be at Disneyland ... what a surprise!).

    So here it is chums,
    Nothing fancy, nothing classy,
    No silly themes
    Like the old wild west
    With men in girlie shawlies
    Sptting on dung-beetles.

Just you, me, some of the guys
    Enjoying a last drink
    And waiting for the sunset.

Oh, towards the end I might
    Try and play
    "Roamin' In' The Gloaming'
    On some ghastly bagpipes.
That is if I am not among the first
    To be taken out
By four men on a an old paddy waggon.

For I am the one who is dying,
    The one throwing the bash,
    So you can't blame me.
    For getting drunk.

    Was going to write more
    But the party has started,
    And what is the greater
    A poem or a beer?

  • OMG!  Disneyland was FANTASTIC!!!!

It is indeed much more fun to go with people who have the same love for Disney as you do, and even though I was somewhat scared of meeting all these new folks the night turned out to be the most fun I've had in a while - I surely needed it.

Here is our little group in front of "It's A Small World" at around 10 am.  The funny thing is that the poor guy taking the shot of us had to go through all our cameras to get the shot.  I'm the one in the middle with the blue shirt and cane.

And here is how our group grew at 12 pm.  Again we played the camera shuffle with this group shot, and once again I am in the middle ... I like to be in the middle of things ... when they are good.

And ... this is the desert we shared at the Blue Bayou Restaurant.  Not only is the desert cool, but the restaurant is inside the "Pirates Of The Caribbean" ride - which makes for some really nice atmosphere.  The person I split this with let me have the flag and Jolly Roger, plus they let us keep our menus as souvenirs ... probably because we were such a large group.

All in all I had a blast, and met some new people who can fuel my Disney obsession even further.  Next time we are having a big get together is in January for the 2nd Anniversary of the forum we belong to ... and I can't wait!

Just an update on the planned trips for the forum ... and I'm just crazy enough to try and go to all of them!

  • Blah ...

  • So, right now ... working a lot (wishing I didn't have to work).  I'm certain a lot of you are in the same boat with me.  Seriously, there are days when I have been so mentally drained that I have considered taking a nap on the restroom floor for a few minutes.  Ok, I admit it ... I have taken a nap on the restroom floor at work ... but I laid down my jacket ... and when you're tired folks ... you're tired!

Right now I'm just looking forward to this Sunday.  The Disney forum I belong to is having a pretty big meet ... so far around 30 of us are getting together to invade Disneyland for a whole day.  I can't wait ... fun times with a bunch of folks who love Disneyland as much as I do!

Maybe I'll take Monday off to recover ...

  • Seriously this cold weather is messed up!  MESSED UP!  Or maybe I should say that my breaking my leg has caused this cold weather to be the ultimate misery visited upon me.

As most of you know I broke my leg in March, got the gift of an IM rod and six screws (four below my knee and two at my ankle).  Well ... this cold weather makes my leg STIFF!  STIFF!!!  Which of course makes it hard to walk.  It's not horrible ... but it isn't great either ... makes me really want to get all the metal out of my leg.

But, at least I can walk ... although I can't run to save my life (literally ... can't run).

Oh!  And I'm planning a trip to Paris (to see Disneyland of course) in 2008 (mid-September for about a week or so).  I know it is far off, but I want to be prepared (and learn some French as well).  So, any of you have suggestions on what to do over there besides Disneyland Paris ...

  • Well, Thanksgiving brought about a mixed bag of both good and bad.  I'll start with the bad since it is always better to end things on a good note.

The bad - family.  Granted I am thankful to still have my Grandmother and Aunt around, plus the fact that they traveled over here from Guadalajara.  Yet, I am also thankful that they do indeed live in a totally different country and that the last true time I saw the majority of them was in '88.  We didn't visit my cousin, nor did we have a Thanksgiving dinner at home - especially because my Mom and Sister just don't get along.  My Sister will NOT EVER cross paths with my Mom, let alone be in the same room with her - and it is amazing how she pulls this off even though we all live in the same home.

But, that's all minor stuff compared to the inevitable topic that always seems to come up when I am the company of my Grandmother and my Aunt - and that is the color of my skin.  Obviously it is something that I cannot change, but they think they can.  Always telling me to stay out of the sun, what to wear so I don't look darker and recommending different "antidotes" I can try to lighten my skin -I suppose they think DNA can be changed by applying something on my skin.  In our whole family the "whiter" grand kids are treated differently then the "darker" ones ... or maybe it is just that I see it that way because I am one of the "dark" ones (by the way my younger Sister and Brother are fair skinned).  I am also making this non-issue into a more of an issue by dwelling on it, but I hate the fact that it ALWAYS comes up ... ALWAYS.  But, it just makes me wonder if I even want to associate with them because of their views on this topic.  I guess this just amazes me because I haven't really experienced any prejudice based on my skin color during my life (or at least not that I noticed), so to have this come from my own family is rather disturbing to me.  I don't know what to really think about this ... except that I hate it and I feel sorry that they can't be more open minded about it.

That aside ... on to the good news.  After a horrible Thanksgiving day I got a call early in the morning from Roberto.  It was good to hear his voice in a better mood.  It seems he ended up tieing off some loose ends and will be moving in with his Brother.  I was just relieved to hear him like his old self and to know that he is moving in a positive direction.  I wanted to thank you all for your positive vibes and kind comments when I posted before about him ... it seems to have helped.

So ... how was everybody else's Thanksgiving.
