Well I'm just glad that work is over and the weekend is here - and that I got paid! I work for LAUSD, and if you've been watching the news around here we have been having some troubles with our payroll system. Some folks get paid, some underpaid, some overpaid ... and a few unlucky ones don't get paid at all. Let me say that not getting paid isn't good since most of us get paid only once a month, so we count on our paycheck more than other people would (that's my opinion though). Thankfully I haven't had any problems so far, and I hope not to have any in the future.
Recently the Disney fan website I belong to had a contest to go see the premiere of "Finding Kraftland" at Universal CityWalk. A movie about a Disney fan who purchases Disneyland memorabilia, let me say that it looks more interesting than I make it sound. Well, I didn't enter the contest but a friend of mine did ... so on Sunday I'm going to the premiere and after party and I'm looking forward to that. Of course I'll be taking pictures, as well as attending the Grand Ave. Festival in Downtown L.A. before hand.
For now I leave you with some pictures from a CD my cousin dropped off of my Uncle's (Dad's older brother) funeral.
From left to right: Cousin Judy, my baby brother (Santiago), Cousin Johnny, Aunt Rosa and me. I'm not smiling since I was rather conflicted when they took this picture, because one would usually smile for a picture ... yet we were at a funeral ... so I decided to just not smile.
This is one of the framed pictures they had of my Uncle at the funeral. This is my favorite one they had of him there, and with everybody talking about the good memories they had of him it is hard to imagine that he is gone.

sorry to hear about your uncle. i can see why you aren't smiling. i would be wondering if it was appropriate to smile too. i remember when my uncle died (long long long time ago) we hadn't had any recent pictures of him so my dad took a few snap shots of him in the casket. i wasn't really sure if that was appropriate either but i desided it was ok because if anyone was to do it then my dad would be the one. they turned out really well and my aunt was very appreciative of it too.
have you heard of a disney triathalon? my uncle (which is visiting and a different uncle than before) said that they were all going to disney in may to enter into a triathalon. i didn't know disney had anything like that. we're going next june or july there as well.
Sorry about your uncle. I'm glad to hear everyone was sharing good stories and memories of him. I'm like you, I would be conflicted as to whether or not to smile in the picture.
RYC: Mine still stand but are slouching a bit.... as pointed out by the nurses "pick up and place electrode under" approach.
*sparkle
It's shows sophistication to not smile at a funeral... unless a moment calls for it.
Your uncle was one fine looking gentlemen. He must've been a fine man to be missed so dearly.
RYC: I'll try to send you one if you do. Hell, I'll send you one anyway. What's your e-mail address?
If I lived in Orlando I would be at Universal's Island of Adventure every weekend.
I think not smiling was appropriate.
Sorry to hear about your uncle. Definitely hpp for yu that you gotyour paycheck!
ryc: YAY! Don't worry about the deadline just play when you can. It was really just a ay to pass the time.
