I've always commented to my brother that once his generation starts taking over our government I will most assuredly kill myself. It frightens me that they are so easily led without a strong basis to change their view on, they just follow without thinking ... and probably is the same reason why the Wicked Witch (Hillary Clinton) is out there as a presidential candidate (God help us if she wins).
I was just shocked at the fact that a few weeks ago students were actually protesting to make Cesar Chavez day a National holiday, and demonstrated this by not going to school. There is no doubt in my mind that Cesar Chavez was a great man, but the way most folks use him and portray him disgusts me. The fact that most times his memory as a great leader is used to bolster the spirits of those defending illegal immigration is just offensive. I wonder if these people know that Cesar Chavez served in the Navy and served his country - America. In his love for this country he helped ALL farmworkers and unionized them, and he DID NOT support illegal immigrants. As a matter of fact he tried to dissuade illegals from coming over the border and ruining their efforts at unionizing the workers. Do these people know this? I highly doubt that they do ... that or they choose to ignore THE FACTS and continue to distort the image of this man. Chavez stood not for unregulated immigration or the civil rights of
illegal or legal aliens. Chavez simply wanted to organize an unskilled
labor sector to achieve a fair wage for a day's work.My co-worker was the one who informed me about this march and asked what I thought about it. I told him that I thought Cesar Chavez was a great man, but there was already a State holiday and most of these kids were just looking for an excuse to get out of their classes for the day. I don't understand why these kids don't go out in the same numbers and with the same energy to improve their education. As it is these kids aren't even mediocre performers in school, and that is a sad state of affairs. The fact that there are high school seniors reading at an elementary level is astonishing, yet here they are demanding a day off from school ... a day which I am certain if granted would not be used to commemorate Cesar Chavez in any way.
If these kids keep this up they won't even be able to work for the school system they got out of!
Ok ... enough ranting ... now onto a song I'm enjoying at the moment ...
